A transition from humanity as a planetary force to humanity as a more conscious planetary agent — not a fixed doctrine, but an open, shared inquiry.
Gaia Evolution Foundation (GEF) researches how humanity can learn to live and act more maturely under conditions of planetary interdependence and accelerating technology. We map emerging practices, prototype new institutions, and connect people and fields of knowledge that don't yet know they need each other.
Planetary Adulthood is the Foundation's central concept: a shift from humanity acting as a blind planetary force to humanity acting as a more conscious planetary agent. It is deliberately not a single doctrine or manifesto — it's an open research question that different disciplines, practices, and communities are approaching from different angles.
Not one worldview to converge on — but the kinds of people, institutions, and forms of cooperation capable of acting responsibly in systems they can profoundly influence but never fully control.
The Foundation grew out of fifteen years of work by Pavel Luksha — beginning with Global Education Futures and continuing through a series of related initiatives. The underlying method is a pattern GEF calls field-building: assembling the language, practices, and network around an emerging theme, deliberately structured so the field doesn't remain permanently dependent on its founder.
Planetary Adulthood is the current expression of that pattern — a book and a wider body of research into maturity under conditions of planetary-scale power, developed together with a growing circle of practitioners, researchers, and institution-builders.
Planetary Adulthood is not confined to one program — it runs through everything GEF does, in different registers:
Inner Capacities & Authorship works with agency, attention, embodiment, relationship, and authorship of action in an age of increasingly capable machines and institutions. The Fellowship gathers twelve practitioners, researchers, and builders across AI, somatics, education, media, regeneration, community-building, and futures work to think and build together for a year. The Salons bring the same inquiry into local, in-person gatherings. And the Living Book is an evolving, AI-supported, community-driven body of knowledge that keeps developing after publication rather than freezing at the moment of release.
